Unlived Truths: Exposing the Hollow Echoes of Bookish Psychoanalysts

Ever heard of "stolen valor"?

It’s a term that usually echoes through the halls of military history, describing folks who flaunt unearned medals with all the pomp of a peacock—but none of the honor.

Now, strap in, because I’m about to tell you how this same phenomenon is running rampant in the New Age spiritual arena, but instead of medals, it's wisdom that’s being flaunted.

In the dazzling world of crystals, overly-priced retreats and all that jazz, it’s usually the privileged who get the mic. And by privileged, I mean those decked out with the right skin color, the hefty bank accounts, the ivy-league degrees—basically, the societal cheat codes. These folks often end up with platforms towering over those who might actually have dug deeper into the gritty soil of life’s harsher truths.

Initiation—true spiritual initiation—is about transformation. It’s about those moments that tear you down to your core and let you rebuild yourself, piece by painstaking piece. But here’s the kicker: those with the loudest voices in our spiritual communities often have the smoothest paths. Less stumbling over life’s hurdles means less profound transformation, yet they’re the ones leading the chants and selling the workshops.

Take Lisa Marchiano, for instance. She's a respected Jungian analyst and the author of "The Vital Spark," a book about recognizing and integrating what she calls "outlaw energies." And while Lisa certainly brings valuable perspectives to the table, her prominence also illustrates how easily less initiated views can dominate the conversation—because they fit the bill, speak the lingo, and look the part.

However, the irony deepens with Lisa. Despite her discussions about "Lilith" and "outlaw energies" from her perch of privilege, she often displays a clear disdain for the true "wild woman" archetype on her podcasts—perhaps even an envy. To those closely bound by societal norms, Lisa might appear as a figure of Lilith, but step back, and you'll see the costume of a "larping Lilith," a portrayal that robs the essence of the true Lilith every day. These "Larping Liliths" are essentially Eves—the feminine face of culture—posers who crave all the glory without the grit, masquerading as something they're not.

This New Age “stolen valor” isn’t just an ironic twist—it’s a crisis of authenticity. It means that the spiritual guidance flooding our feeds might be more about surface than substance. It's watering down the profound, earth-shaking truths that can only come from those who've walked through fire—metaphorically speaking.

So, what do we do? Start listening for the whispers, not just the shouts. It’s time to tune into the voices of those who’ve truly been transformed by life’s fiercest battles. Let's shift our gaze from the polished stages to the back alleys and shadowed corners where wisdom isn’t just spoken, it’s lived.

Next time you scroll through your spiritual feed or sit down at a workshop, ask yourself: “Who am I listening to? Have they earned their wisdom, or is it just well-packaged?” Because in the realm of the spirit, authenticity isn’t just a bonus—it’s everything.

And remember, in the jungle of spiritual wisdom, it’s those who have risen from hell that have the deepest wisdom to share.

Let's give them the microphone.

“LARPING LILITHS “ is a perfect analogy for this ‼️ 💯

And yes- we need to attune the “spiritual ear” to whispers and not just those yapping the loudest or with the most letters behind their names.
